Antoine Fuqua is an American film director and producer born May 30, 1965, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, widely recognized for his work in the action and thriller genres. He rose to prominence with the Oscar-winning crime thriller Training Day (2001), and has since helmed blockbusters including The Equalizer trilogy (2014–2023), The Magnificent Seven (2016), Southpaw (2015), Emancipation (2022), and the Michael Jackson biopic Michael (2026), his highest-grossing film to date with over $846 million worldwide. Through his production banner Hill District Media (formerly Fuqua Films), he holds a first-look film deal with Netflix and an overall TV deal with Paramount/MTV Entertainment Studios. He is currently in production on Hannibal, a Netflix historical epic starring Denzel Washington, shooting at Rome's Cinecittà Studios in summer 2026.
