West Virginia Public Theatre (WVPT) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) professional theatre company founded in 1988 and based at West Virginia University's Canady Creative Arts Center in Morgantown, West Virginia. It is widely recognized as the state's premier professional theatre organization, producing union theatrical productions encompassing classical drama, contemporary plays, and musicals, while also providing educational outreach to over 3,000 school children annually from 16 counties across West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. WVPT operates in partnership with WVU's College of Creative Arts and Media, and has presented over 190 Broadway-quality productions for more than one million patrons over its history.
