TOSOS (The Other Side of Silence)

The Other Side of Silence (TOSOS) is New York City's oldest and longest-producing LGBTQIA+ theater company, originally founded in 1974 by playwright Doric Wilson, cabaret star Billy Blackwell, and writer-actor-director Peter del Valle. After closing in 1977, it was revived in 2002 by artistic director Mark Finley and managing director Barry Childs, and has been producing Off-Off-Broadway work ever since. TOSOS is dedicated to an honest and open exploration of LGBTQ+ life and cultural sensibility, preserving and promoting the community's theatrical heritage through mainstage productions and a free reading series. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization.
