About

Theater Mitu is a New York City-based experimental theater company founded in 1997 by Rubén Polendo, dedicated to expanding the definition of theater through methodical experimentation with form. Operating out of MITU580, a 2,400-square-foot multi-use art space in Brooklyn, the company produces original works, runs artist training programs, and conducts trans-global performance research. Theater Mitu's work spans productions, interdisciplinary collaborations, education initiatives, and international touring, with presentations at venues including the Public Theater, BAM, New York Theatre Workshop, Lincoln Center Theater, and MASS MoCA.
