Slovak Audiovisual Fund

The Slovak Audiovisual Fund (Audiovizuálny fond, or AVF) is the main public funding institution for Slovak audiovisual culture and industry, operating since 2010 as a self-governing public institution. It supports the entire film value chain — development, production, distribution, promotion, cinemas, festivals, research, education, and technology — through grants, loans, and stipends. The Fund is financed through a combination of state budget subsidies (minimum €6 million annually) and mandatory contributions from TV broadcasters, cinema operators, distributors, and retransmission providers. It also administers a 33% cash rebate scheme for domestic and international productions shooting in Slovakia, and houses the Slovak Film Commission (SFC) as an organisational unit.
