About

Nine Stories Productions is a New York-based independent film, television, and theater production company co-founded in 2015 by actor Jake Gyllenhaal and producer Riva Marker. Named after J.D. Salinger's 1953 short story collection, the company targets edgy, character-driven projects in the $10–40 million budget range, working with auteur directors to produce provocative material at both studio and independent levels. The company's slate includes critically acclaimed films such as Stronger (2017), Wildlife (2018), The Guilty (2021), and Road House (2024), as well as the Apple TV+ hit series Presumed Innocent (2024). In April 2024, Nine Stories signed a three-year first-look film deal with Amazon MGM Studios, and in September 2024 appointed Josh McLaughlin as President to lead the company's continued expansion.
