About

Makeready is a Culver City-based independent film, TV, and digital content production company founded in 2017 by veteran studio executive Brad Weston (former President/CEO of New Regency and President of Production at Paramount Pictures). Originally backed by Entertainment One (eOne) and Universal Pictures — which committed to worldwide theatrical marketing and distribution for two feature films per year — the company transitioned in 2021 into a multi-year joint venture with Endeavor Content (now Fifth Season), and in October 2024 extended that deal for three more years, adding Topic Studios as a co-financier. Makeready is known for producing filmmaker- and talent-driven premium features and series, with credits including Queen & Slim, Not Okay, Killer Heat, and Book Club: The Next Chapter.
