Canana Films

Canana Films is a Mexican film and television production and distribution company founded in 2005 in Mexico City by actors Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna and producer Pablo Cruz. The company became one of Mexico's leading producer-distributors during the late 2000s and early 2010s, championing independent Latin American-focused projects in Spanish and English and pioneering upscale VOD, genre, and indie 3D movie distribution in Mexico. It is known for acclaimed productions including Sin Nombre (2009), Miss Bala (2011), the Oscar-nominated No (2012), Rudo y Cursi (2006), and Cesar Chavez (2014). The company has been inactive since approximately 2020, following the departures of its founding actors in 2018 and co-founder Pablo Cruz's establishment of El Estudio.
