Anawan Studios

Anawan Studios is a Black-owned, full-scale film production company based in Brockton, Massachusetts, founded in 2016 by Rui Lopes. Dedicated to elevating BIPOC voices, the studio provides pre-production, production, and post-production services for narrative films, short-form content, commercials, and branded storytelling. The company is known for producing genre-spanning original work — including sci-fi, action, comedy, and drama — while also serving commercial clients whose revenue supports their independent film slate. Anawan has gained regional recognition for championing inclusive New England filmmaking and has screened work at the Roxbury International Film Festival at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.
