Eleventh Hour Films is partnering with Climate Spring, a global organization focused on climate representation in media, to bring the project to screen. Django/Zorro is in early development at Sony Pictures, adapting the seven-issue comic crossover co-written by Quentin Tarantino and Matt Wagner. Oscar-winning screenwriter Brian Helgeland has been tapped to write a new screenplay that builds on the comic's premise, in which former slave-turned-bounty-hunter Django forms an unlikely alliance with Don Diego de la Vega, the original Zorro, to fight injustice across the American Southwest. The project has Tarantino's blessing but he will not direct. The film follows on from the 2014 Dynamite Entertainment comic series, which saw Django become Zorro's bodyguard on a mission to free indigenous people from slavery. No director has been set, and casting has not yet begun. This marks a continuation of the Django Unchained universe, though previous script drafts by comedian Jerrod Carmichael have been shelved in favor of Helgeland's fresh take.
