State-Crossed Lovers

State-Crossed Lovers is an independent romantic drama currently in pre-production with Stonestreet Studios and I Ain't Playin' Films. Writer-director Alyssa Rallo Bennett helms the project from a script she co-wrote with Gary O. Bennett, bringing her background in socially conscious filmmaking to this modern exploration of young love facing societal barriers. The film stars Zsa Zsa Zemeckis in her first lead role as Mila Hart, a pregnant teenager dealing with family pressures and legal constraints. Liz Ortiz produces alongside Bennett, with Angela Mickey of Liz Lewis Casting overseeing the casting process. Production is slated to begin filming summer 2026, with the project drawing on themes reminiscent of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet while addressing contemporary issues around reproductive rights and autonomy.
