Picturehouse
Project Summary
Picturehouse has wrapped principal photography and is now in post-production. Directed by Nguyen-Vo Nghiem-Minh (Buffalo Boy), the film draws from the director's childhood growing up in his grandfather's cinema in Vung Tau during the Vietnam War. The story follows an eight-year-old boy who finds refuge in his family's theater, where screenings of Japanese samurai films, Hollywood Westerns, French New Wave titles, and Hong Kong martial arts classics offer escape from the conflict outside. The international co-production brings together Add Oil Films from Singapore, Green Snapper Productions and East Films from the United States, Girelle Production from France, and HKFilm from Vietnam. Bao Nguyen serves as executive producer, reuniting with director Minh after their collaboration on Nuoc 2030. Cinematographer Nguyen Phan Linh Dan shot the film in Vung Tau, about 100 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City. CJ CGV will handle the Vietnamese theatrical release.
