John William Ferrell (born July 16, 1967) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer best known for his leading roles in comedy films and his seven-year run as a cast member on Saturday Night Live (1995–2002). He has starred in iconic comedies including Elf (2003), Anchorman (2004), Talladega Nights (2006), Step Brothers (2008), and Barbie (2023), and has co-founded production companies Gary Sanchez Productions (with Adam McKay, now defunct) and Gloria Sanchez Productions (with Jessica Elbaum, currently active). As a producer, he has received four Primetime Emmy Awards for Succession and Live in Front of a Studio Audience, and was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2011.
