Taika Waititi (born Taika David Cohen, 16 August 1975) is an Academy Award-, BAFTA-, and Grammy-winning New Zealand filmmaker, writer, actor, and comedian of Māori and Jewish heritage. He is best known for directing Jojo Rabbit (for which he won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay), Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and Boy. In television, he co-created FX's Reservation Dogs, starred in and produced Max's Our Flag Means Death, co-created Apple TV+'s Time Bandits, and directed the pilot of Hulu's Interior Chinatown. His upcoming projects include the Sony Pictures film Klara and the Sun, starring Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams, and an attachment to direct a Judge Dredd feature.
