Matthew Shewchuk is a Canadian director, producer, and showrunner born April 3, 1976 in Montreal, Quebec, specializing in unscripted and factual television. He is the Founder and President of Big Time Decent Productions, a Burnaby, BC-based company behind hit series including Rust Valley Restorers (History/Netflix), Backroad Truckers, Underdog Inc., and The Last Captains, with clients including Netflix, Hulu, Discovery Channel, Bell Media, and Corus. He has directed over 46 episodes of Highway Thru Hell, 26 episodes of Cold Water Cowboys, and 25 episodes of Rust Valley Restorers, and won a Canadian Screen Award for Best Direction in a Documentary Series for his work on Ice Pilots NWT. In 2024 he launched the scripted division Bread & Better Films and signed Big Time Decent with Verve Talent and Literary Agency (LA), and in August 2025 launched Big Time Decent International as a dedicated distribution arm debuting at MIPCOM Cannes.
