About
Octavia Julia Verdin is a British-born, LA-based independent filmmaker — producer, director, and writer — and Founder of Rough Diamond Productions, established in 1993/1995. Having been in the film business for over 30 years, she has produced over 42 critically acclaimed feature films, including Sony Pictures Classics' The Merchant of Venice (Al Pacino, Jeremy Irons), Stander (Thomas Jane), and 2 Jacks (Sienna Miller, Danny Huston), with selections at Sundance, Toronto, Venice, and AFI. She has also transitioned into directing and writing social-impact films focused on child trafficking, domestic abuse, addiction, and homelessness, including No Address (2025), Maya (2024), and Angie: Lost Girls (2020). Julia is additionally the founder of Artists For Change, a 501(c) nonprofit leveraging film for social awareness, and has served on the BAFTA LA board for 10 years.
