Ilene Chaiken is a pioneering American television showrunner, producer, writer, and director best known as the co-creator and executive producer of Showtime's groundbreaking series The L Word (2004–2009) and its sequel The L Word: Generation Q (2019–2023). She served as showrunner and executive producer on Fox's Empire (2015–2018) and co-created NBC's Law & Order: Organized Crime (2020), for which she also served as showrunner before departing in 2022. In 2025, she co-founded Run-A-Muck Media alongside Jennifer Beals and Pamela Drucker Mann, a next-generation queer cross-platform media company signed to CAA, where she serves as Co-Chief Content Officer; she is also the founder of Little Chicken Productions.
