Emmy-nominated director Hanelle M. Culpepper is a history-making American television and film director whose work spans prestige drama, franchise tentpoles, and groundbreaking pilots. She became the first woman and first Black director to launch a new Star Trek series with the Star Trek: Picard pilot (2019), winning an NAACP Image Award for that work. In 2026, she became only the second Black woman nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, for directing 'Exodus,' the Season 2 finale of Hulu's Paradise. Her credits span nearly 40 series including Westworld, Star Wars: The Acolyte, Kung Fu (pilot, co-EP), NOS4A2, Matlock, and more.
