Elizabeth Karlsen is an internationally renowned, award-winning American-British film producer who co-founded the leading UK independent production company Number 9 Films in 2002 with partner and husband Stephen Woolley. Her career, spanning over three decades, has produced some of the most celebrated independent films in the US and Europe, including Carol (6 Academy Award nominations), The Crying Game (Academy Award winner), Little Voice, Made in Dagenham, Colette, and Mothering Sunday. In February 2019, she and Stephen Woolley jointly received the highly prestigious BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema. She has served on the board of The Edinburgh Film Festival, the NFTS Gala, the American Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts Events Committee, and was chair of Women in Film and TV UK.
