Douglas Eric Liman is an American film director and producer born July 24, 1965, in New York City, best known for reinventing the action genre with The Bourne Identity (2002) and helming blockbusters including Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), Edge of Tomorrow (2014), American Made (2017), Road House (2024), and The Instigators (2024). He is co-founder and partner at production company Hypnotic alongside Dave Bartis and Gene Klein, with which he has produced hit television series including Suits and Covert Affairs. Currently in post/production on the AI-enabled crypto thriller Bitcoin (starring Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, and Gal Gadot), he is simultaneously developing spy thriller The Initiative for Universal with Angelina Jolie and spy thriller Star One with Miles Teller and Eddie Redmayne.
