David Samuel Goyer (born December 22, 1965, Ann Arbor, Michigan) is an American screenwriter, film director, producer, novelist, and comic book writer best known for the Blade trilogy, Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, Man of Steel, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He is the creator and founding showrunner of Apple TV+'s Foundation (Seasons 1–3, with his direct involvement ending mid-Season 3 following budget disputes with Skydance Television), and executive producer of Apple TV+'s Murderbot. He is the founder of Phantom Four Films, a boutique production company specializing in sophisticated genre entertainment, which holds a multi-year first-look deal with Village Roadshow Pictures; he is represented by WME.
