Bruce Eric Kaplan, widely known by his initials BEK, is an American television writer-producer, showrunner, and acclaimed New Yorker cartoonist born in Maplewood, New Jersey. Over a 30-year career he has served in senior creative roles on landmark series including Seinfeld, Six Feet Under (as executive producer), Girls (as executive producer), and most recently as co-showrunner alongside Jenni Konner and Erin Foster on Netflix's hit romantic comedy Nobody Wants This, which has been renewed through Season 4. A prolific author, he has published over a dozen books including cartoon collections, picture books, and two memoirs, and has contributed over a thousand cartoons and more than a dozen covers to The New Yorker.
