About

The Second City is the world's premier improvisational comedy theater, education, and entertainment enterprise, founded in Chicago in 1959. It operates live stages, training centers, and touring ensembles in Chicago, Toronto, and New York City (Williamsburg, Brooklyn), reaching over 1 million people annually. Beyond its iconic stages — which launched the careers of Tina Fey, Bill Murray, Stephen Colbert, and dozens more — The Second City runs the world's largest comedy training centers and its professional services arm, Second City Works, which provides improv-based corporate training and entertainment to business clients globally. In February 2021, the company was acquired by ZMC, a Manhattan-based private equity investment firm.
