Super Frog Films

Super Frog Films was a Los Angeles-based (Los Feliz) production company co-founded in 2019 by Emmy-winning director Hiro Murai and his longtime producing partner Nate Matteson. The company developed and produced original feature films, scripted and unscripted television, and alternative content, championing new and underrepresented filmmakers, operating under a first-look deal with FX Productions (signed 2020). Its most acclaimed productions included Station Eleven (HBO Max), The Bear (FX), and The Choe Show (FX). In March 2023, Murai and Matteson parted ways amicably; Murai subsequently launched successor entity Chum Films in February 2025, while Matteson joined Closer Media as head of scripted in October 2023 — leaving the Super Frog banner no longer active.
