About

State Street Pictures is a Los Angeles-based motion picture and television production company co-founded by producer Robert (Bob) Teitel and director/producer George Tillman Jr., originally formed as Menagerie Films in Chicago before being renamed following the breakout success of Soul Food (1997). The company is best known for producing culturally impactful films including the Barbershop franchise, Men of Honor, The Hate U Give, Notorious, and most recently the global hit Bob Marley: One Love (2024), which grossed over $180 million worldwide. State Street Pictures has maintained long-running first-look deals at major studios including Fox 2000, Sony Pictures Television, and most recently Paramount Pictures, where they re-upped a first-look feature deal in February 2025.
