About

The Shaw Rocket Fund is Canada's largest private investor dedicated to children's media, and the country's only independent fund exclusively financing and advancing Canadian children's and youth content. Founded in 1998 by Shaw Communications (originally as the Shaw Television Broadcast Fund), it is a permanently governed, not-for-profit corporation that provides equity financing for high-quality Canadian children's, youth, and family programming across all platforms and in both official languages. Over its history, the Fund has invested over $297 million into more than 1,158 Canadian children's programs, and actively advocates for the sector through CRTC proceedings, research, industry initiatives, and partnerships such as the CMF-SRF Kids Digital Animated Series Program. As of April 2026, the Fund faces a significant funding challenge following a CRTC ruling that Rogers Communications is not required to continue contributions.
