Scanbox/Ymer

Ymer Media AS is a Norwegian theatrical film distribution company established in February 2022 by Jarle Namtvedt and Cecilie Aas, both veterans of Norwegian cinema distribution with over 25 years of experience each. The company distributes foreign and Norwegian films to Norwegian cinemas across a wide range of genres — from local historical dramas and internationally acclaimed art-house films to animated family films and horror. In 2024, Scandinavian distribution powerhouse Scanbox Entertainment (itself part of the pan-European Vuelta Group) acquired a majority stake in Ymer Media, deepening an existing partnership that had seen Ymer handling Norwegian theatrical releases for Scanbox titles.
