Rooftop Films

Rooftop Films is a Brooklyn-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1997, best known for its annual Summer Series — the nation's largest outdoor showcase of independent cinema — featuring up to 50 events annually across all five boroughs of New York City, with 80% of programs free to the public. Beyond exhibition, Rooftop operates the Rooftop Filmmakers Fund, which has granted over $2.3 million to more than 2,750 independent filmmakers including alumni such as Taika Waititi, Lee Isaac Chung, and Benh Zeitlin. The organization also rents A/V and production equipment at low cost to artists, nonprofits, and community groups.
