About
Red Bucket Films was a New York City-based indie film collective and production company active from 2003 to 2018, best known as the creative home of filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems, Good Time), alongside collaborators Brett Jutkiewicz, Alex Kalman, and Sam Lisenco. The collective produced short films, features, and multimedia projects rooted in New York street life, with a raw, guerrilla filmmaking aesthetic. The company operated out of 368 Broadway in lower Manhattan — a building that became a celebrated incubator for a generation of indie filmmakers including Greta Gerwig, Lena Dunham, and the Neistat brothers. The collective was dissolved when the Safdie brothers moved on to launch their own production company after gaining wider industry traction.
