About

Pixar Animation Studios is an Academy Award®-winning American computer animation studio based in Emeryville, California, and a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company (via Walt Disney Studios). Founded in 1986, Pixar is globally renowned for pioneering CGI-animated feature films, having produced 32 features — beginning with the world's first fully computer-animated feature, Toy Story (1995) — that have collectively grossed over $17 billion worldwide. The studio combines proprietary technology (including its industry-standard RenderMan® renderer and Universal Scene Description/OpenUSD) with world-class creative talent to produce emotionally resonant animated films; its titles have earned 23 Academy Awards, 10 Golden Globe Awards, and 11 Grammy Awards.
