Mojang Studios

Mojang Studios (legally Mojang AB) is a Swedish video game developer founded in 2009 by Markus Persson and headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The studio is best known for creating Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time with over 350 million copies sold as of 2025, which has expanded into a global franchise including spin-off games, novels, merchandise, theme parks, and feature films. Acquired by Microsoft for $2.5 billion in November 2014, Mojang operates as a first-party studio under Xbox Game Studios with offices in Stockholm, Redmond, London, Shanghai, and Tokyo. In 2025, the studio co-produced A Minecraft Movie (2025) with Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, which grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide.
