Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), founded in 1924, is one of Hollywood's most iconic and storied studios, focused on the production and global distribution of film and television content across all platforms. Acquired by Amazon for $8.45 billion in 2022, MGM now operates as a subsidiary of Amazon MGM Studios and is home to some of the world's most recognized franchises, including James Bond and Rocky, as well as acclaimed television productions such as Fargo and The Handmaid's Tale. MGM owns one of the largest film libraries in the world, with more than 4,000 titles. As of late 2023, the studio's parent brand was rebranded as Amazon MGM Studios, marking the formal integration of MGM's IP and production capabilities into Amazon's global content ecosystem.
