Illuminative

IllumiNative was a national, Native woman-led racial and social justice nonprofit organization founded in 2018 to build power for Native peoples by amplifying contemporary Native voices, stories, and issues within pop culture and media. The organization used Native-led research, narrative change strategies, movement-building, and organizing to disrupt the invisibility of Native peoples and push forward accurate representations in film, television, and mainstream American institutions. Among its most noted accomplishments were its leading role in the Washington Football Team name change in 2020 and organizing support for the confirmation of Deb Haaland as the first Native American Cabinet Secretary. IllumiNative officially sunsetted as an organization at the end of 2025; its website now serves as an archive and resource guide.
