ACT III Productions is an independent entertainment production company founded in 1985 by legendary television producer and writer Norman Lear, operating as the production arm of the larger Act III Communications multimedia holding company. Known for socially and politically relevant content, the company produced iconic films such as The Princess Bride (1987) and Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), and modern television including the critically acclaimed One Day at a Time reboot (Netflix) and the Emmy Award-winning Live in Front of a Studio Audience specials (ABC). Following Norman Lear's death in December 2023, the company is now owned by his estate and its future direction is under consideration, with a first-look deal historically maintained at Sony Pictures Television.
