About
Saïd Hamich Benlarbi is a Moroccan-French film producer, director, and screenwriter born in Fez, Morocco in 1986. A graduate of La Fémis (film production department) and winner of the 2012 Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation Film Producer grant, he founded Paris-based Barney Production in 2010 with an ambition to develop popular auteur cinema. As a producer he is known for Much Loved (Nabil Ayouch), Volubilis (Faouzi Bensaïdi), Zanka Contact, and Hounds/Les Meutes (Kamal Lazraq), which won the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at Cannes 2023; as a director he made Return to Bollene (2017) and Across the Sea / La Mer au loin (2024, Cannes Critics' Week Special Screening).
