Mehret Mandefro is an Emmy-nominated, award-winning producer, writer, and serial entrepreneur born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, who champions the creative arts as a path to a more just society. Her body of work across documentary and fiction film and TV has appeared on Netflix, Amazon, American Masters/PBS, and Apple, with credits including the Sundance and Berlinale Audience Award-winning feature Difret, NYT Critic's Pick Little White Lie, and the Emmy-nominated American Masters documentary How It Feels To Be Free. She co-founded Truth Aid Media (New York), A51 Pictures (Ethiopia), and the Realness Institute (South Africa), and is currently Executive Producer of the African Film and Media Arts Collective. A member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, she holds an MD from Harvard Medical School and a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Temple University.
