Julia Hart (born April 7, 1982) is an American writer-director known for genre-reinventing films that center female perspectives and themes of motherhood and empowerment. A former high school English teacher for eight years, she transitioned into screenwriting before making her critically acclaimed directorial debut with Miss Stevens (2016) at SXSW. She has since directed Fast Color (2018), Stargirl (2020), I'm Your Woman (2020), and Hollywood Stargirl (2022), and her Netflix dramedy Don't Say Good Luck is set to premiere in August 2026. She frequently collaborates with her husband, producer-writer Jordan Horowitz, through their production banner Original Headquarters.
