John Papsidera, CSA, is a veteran casting director based in Los Angeles (and Nashville) and the founder of Automatic Sweat, his casting company formed in 2000. Backstage has described him as Christopher Nolan's 'go-to casting director,' having cast nearly every Nolan film from Memento (2000) through The Odyssey (2026); he also maintains long-running partnerships with James Gunn, Jason Reitman, and other top directors. Over a career spanning 200+ film and television projects, he has earned 2 Primetime Emmy Awards, 5 Artios Awards from the Casting Society of America, and in 2025 received the CSA's prestigious Hoyt Bowers Award for his overall body of work. A trained actor with a BFA from Florida State University, he began his casting career as an assistant at the Mark Taper Forum before moving into feature films.
