About
David Ayer (born January 18, 1968) is an American writer-director-producer specializing in gritty action, crime, and military dramas. He broke through as a screenwriter with Training Day (2001) — which earned Denzel Washington the Academy Award for Best Actor — and The Fast and the Furious (2001), before establishing himself as a writer-director with End of Watch (2012), Fury (2014), and Suicide Squad (2016). He produces through his banner Crave Films (formerly Cedar Park Entertainment) in partnership with Chris Long, and is also represented commercially through Independent Media. His next theatrical release is Heart of the Beast (September 25, 2026), a survival thriller starring Brad Pitt for Paramount Pictures.
