Daniel Kokotajlo is a British writer-director from Manchester, UK, best known for his debut feature Apostasy (2017), a personal drama drawn from his own experience as a Jehovah's Witness, which earned him a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut and won the Writers' Guild of Great Britain award for Best First Screenplay. His second feature, Starve Acre (2023), a folk-horror adaptation of Andrew Michael Hurley's novel starring Matt Smith and Morfydd Clark, premiered in main competition at the BFI London Film Festival 2023 and was distributed by the BFI. A self-taught filmmaker, he was named one of Screen International's Stars of Tomorrow in 2015 and is represented by Lark Management in the UK.
