Brett Ratner (born March 28, 1969, Miami Beach, Florida) is an American film director and producer whose films have grossed over $2 billion at the global box office. He rose to prominence directing the Rush Hour franchise (1998–2007) and subsequently helmed The Family Man, Red Dragon, X-Men: The Last Stand, Tower Heist, and Hercules, while co-founding RatPac Entertainment in 2012 with James Packer—a production/finance company that co-financed over 50 films earning 51 Oscar nominations. Following a career hiatus after sexual misconduct allegations in 2017 (all denied), Ratner returned to directing with the Melania Trump documentary (2026, Amazon MGM Studios) and is actively developing Rush Hour 4 for Paramount distribution, with location scouting in China underway as of May 2026.
