Barrie Mitchell Osborne ONZM (born February 7, 1944) is a veteran American film producer, production manager, and director who operates through his production banner Emerald City Productions. A DGA-trained producer who rose under Alan Pakula, Sydney Pollack, and Francis Ford Coppola — serving as production manager on Apocalypse Now — he is best known for producing the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, for which he shared the Academy Award for Best Picture and two BAFTA Awards for Best Film, and for executive producing The Matrix, Face/Off, The Great Gatsby (2013), Mulan (2020), and Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis (2024). Appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) in 2017 for services to the film industry, he is currently based in Wellington, New Zealand, and is in development on a Viking trilogy centered on Harald Hardrada.
