Anthony Katagas (born January 28, 1971) is a Greek-American Academy Award–winning film and television producer based in New York City, widely regarded as one of the most prolific figures in American independent cinema. He won the Academy Award for Best Picture for Steve McQueen's '12 Years a Slave' (2013), along with a BAFTA, Golden Globe, Independent Spirit Award, and the PGA's Darryl F. Zanuck Award, and received a second Oscar nomination for Best Picture for Josh Safdie's 'Marty Supreme' (2025). In 1999 he founded Keep Your Head Productions, dedicated to developing and producing New York City–rooted independent films, collaborating across more than 35 films with directors including James Gray, Steve McQueen, Andrew Dominik, the Safdie brothers, Brad Pitt, and Sofia Coppola. He began his career as an assistant director and production manager before transitioning to producing, and is an alumnus of Western New England University.
