Alan Mark Poul (born May 1, 1954, Philadelphia, PA) is an Emmy, Golden Globe, DGA, and Peabody Award-winning American film and television producer and director with over 40 years of prestige credits. He is best known for serving as Executive Producer and Director on HBO's 'Six Feet Under,' Aaron Sorkin's 'The Newsroom,' Netflix's 'The Eddy,' Max's 'Tokyo Vice,' and all four iterations of Armistead Maupin's 'Tales of the City.' A Yale graduate (summa cum laude, Japanese Language & Literature) who is fluent in Japanese, he operates his production banner Boku Films under an overall deal with Fifth Season (formerly Endeavor Content), and most recently served as Executive Producer on Apple TV+'s 'The Savant,' starring Jessica Chastain, which premiered in fall 2025. He also serves as a U.S. Department of State Envoy for the American Film Showcase and as a Tourism Ambassador for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
