Year of the Rat

Year of the Rat is an independent film production company operated as the producing banner of Jonathan Wang, the long-time collaborator of the directing duo Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert). The company served as a production entity on the Oscar-winning A24 film Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), one of the highest-grossing independent films of its era. Wang began in music video production — working with artists including Bob Dylan, Beyoncé, and Jay-Z — before transitioning to features with Daniels' Swiss Army Man (2016). Year of the Rat operates as a boutique producer's banner without a public-facing corporate presence.
