Xbox Entertainment Studios

Xbox Entertainment Studios (XES) was a short-lived American film and television production company founded by Microsoft in September 2012 as a division of Microsoft Studios, headquartered in Santa Monica, California. The studio was created to develop original scripted and unscripted content — branded as 'Xbox Originals' — exclusively for Xbox Live and related platforms, aiming to position Xbox as an all-in-one entertainment hub. Its slate included Halo: Nightfall (produced with 343 Industries and Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions), the documentary Atari: Game Over, and the reality series Every Street United; the studio was shut down on October 29, 2014, as part of a broader Microsoft restructuring under CEO Satya Nadella.
