Viking Children's Books

Viking Children's Books is a prestigious children's publishing imprint of Penguin Young Readers (part of Penguin Random House), founded in 1933 as the Junior Books department of the Viking Press. The imprint has published more Newbery Medal and Caldecott Medal winners than any other publishing house, with an iconic backlist including classics such as Make Way for Ducklings, The Story of Ferdinand, Pippi Longstocking, The Outsiders, and The Snowy Day. Today, operating also under the brand name Viking Books for Young Readers, the imprint publishes approximately 60 titles per year across picture books, middle grade, and young adult fiction, with a focus on diverse voices and the intersection of commercial and literary storytelling.
