Universal 1440 Entertainment is the direct-to-video production label of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, formed in 2005 as a successor to MCA Family Entertainment (formerly Universal Studios Family Productions). The banner develops and produces live-action and animated productions for distribution in all media worldwide, building upon Universal's established franchises such as American Pie, Bring It On, Chucky, Honey, Jarhead, Death Race, Scorpion King, and Tremors, as well as original animated family content including the Daytime Emmy-winning Curious George TV series. It operates as a production entity within the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, a division of NBCUniversal, which is owned by Comcast.
