Touchstone Television

Touchstone Television was The Walt Disney Company's in-house television production studio, originally established in 1985 as a division of Touchstone Pictures to produce adult-oriented scripted series distinct from Disney's family programming. Over its 22-year run it became one of broadcast television's most prolific studios, responsible for landmark hits including The Golden Girls, Home Improvement, Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs, and Criminal Minds. In February 2007, as part of Disney's strategy to consolidate around three core brands, the studio was renamed ABC Television Studio and subsequently ABC Studios in May 2007. The Touchstone Television name was briefly revived in August 2020 for the former Fox 21 Television Studios (a Disney Television Studios unit), but that second incarnation was dissolved on December 1, 2020, with its operations folded into 20th Television.
