Theatro LATEA

Teatro LATEA (Latin American Theater Experiment Associates) is a Latino nonprofit performing arts theater company and cultural institution located in the Lower East Side of New York City, housed within The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center — a landmark 1897 gothic building it helped establish in 1993. For over four decades, LATEA has promoted and produced Latino performing arts through three core programs: LATEA STAGE (theater), LATEA SCREEN (new media and film festivals), and LATEA MUSIC (Latin jazz, Afro-Caribbean and South American music). The organization additionally runs LATEA/Remoto, a live-streaming and recording initiative that transforms its 74-seat stage into a film set for producing original Latinx content online.
